SAVE THE DATE – 18 August 2015, Members Function
We will hold our usual mid-year members get together on the morning of Tuesday 18 August at NZT&E offices, 139 Quay Street, Auckland (Level 6). There will be a networking morning tea at 9.30am followed by an update from Alison, a talk from a member about incorporating NZ ingredients in products, working within the current regulatory environment and another chat about GMP. This will be followed by a brief update on the Natural Health and Supplementary Products Bill.
An invitation will come out in early July and will also be posted on our website.

Doing The Right Thing
NPNZ is committed to ensuring our industry maintains high product quality, safety and efficacy standards. As members you are strongly encouraged to ensure that your products, labelling, advertising and other communication meets all regulatory requirements.
Understanding what is compliant and what is not can be difficult so we are looking forward to the NH&SP Bill passing into law so that everyone is provided with greater clarity. In the meantime, here are some useful tips for ensuring that your products and associated communication comply:
• Follow NPNZ’s Code of Conduct www.naturalproductsnz.org/npnz-code-of-conduct at all times.
• Never name medical conditions on product labelling or in promotional communication. Cosmetic and dietary supplement regulations do not allow words such as ‘Acne’ and ‘Arthritis’ (for example) to be used to name or describe skin and / or dietary supplement products.
• We strongly recommend that you have your promotional material and labelling approved by TAPS as they are an invaluable source of advice of what can and should not be said. Having said that, never assume that material approved by TAPS will be OK because TAPS is an advisory service and not a regulator.
Feel free to contact the NPNZ team if you have questions around the Code of Conduct, and need advice in approaching TAPS.
MOH to run Natural Products Bill Focus Groups
Check into this link to find dates and times for these focus groups. This is an informal discussion group. There will be a chance for EVERYONE to submit their thoughts during the consultation period to follow later in the year.
